Ashwini Vaishnaw was born on July 18, 1970. His birthplace is a small village in Rajasthan called Jeewand Kallan. He grew up in the city of Jodhpur. Vaishnaw studied in local schools in Jodhpur. In 1994, Vaishnaw joined the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). He was assigned to Odisha state. He worked in different places in Odisha. He was the District Collector of Balasore and Cuttack districts. During the super cyclone in 1999, he helped collect important data. After this, Vaishnaw joined the office of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee as a deputy secretary.
